Yamaha C5
Professional-Level Conservatory Grand Piano
The Japanese-built Yamaha C5 occupies a well-established place within professional performance and event work where a full concert grand would be disproportionate to the space. At 6'7", it offers a balanced and articulate voice, with sufficient depth to support recital and ensemble use while remaining controlled and adaptable in more intimate venues.

When properly prepared, the C5 delivers clarity, evenness and a responsive action that rewards careful playing. It does not attempt to overwhelm a room. Instead, it projects cleanly and proportionately, making it particularly suited to smaller halls, chamber performances, corporate events and recording environments where scale must be matched carefully to acoustic context.

This instrument has been refurbished within our workshop to ensure reliability and musical integrity. The work included a full restring using high-quality wire and bass strings, restoring stability of tuning, clarity of tone and consistency across the compass. The structural foundation of the instrument is sound, and the renewed stringing allows it to perform with confidence and focus.

As with all instruments in our hire fleet, preparation is central to its performance. Regulation is maintained evenly throughout the action to provide consistency of touch and secure repetition. Touchweight is balanced with care to avoid the unevenness that can affect smaller grands. Voicing is approached with restraint, preserving Yamaha’s inherent brightness while encouraging warmth and cohesion appropriate to its scale.

The result is a C5 that feels controlled under the hands, even across registers and dependable in professional use. While it does not possess the physical authority or breadth of a larger concert instrument, it offers musical clarity and proportional projection in environments where intimacy and balance are essential.

When supplied, the C5 is delivered and installed with the same technical care applied to our larger instruments. Consideration is given to access, positioning and acoustic setting. Regulation and voicing are reviewed in situ where necessary, and technical support is available in accordance with the demands of the engagement.

The instrument is available for recital, recording and event hire, with booking arranged according to scheduling requirements and venue suitability
